Last night for the first time i started testing accross the web and it worked pretty well except that I started getting an error msg box.
'A Error Connecting Socket' started coming up at the start of play of each song. In searching the msgs I see that '])ar]{ness, MD' posted almost the same question in june. As with this posting, the biggest symptom is that the Song title is not passed on. Music does get streamed but not title info. This happens even with clients on the internal network! 'Xiaos' replied with "... I've had this happen a number of times there are two known causes that I have witnessed: 1. SrcIP field in the SC_SERV.INI is not right ie. you have it set localhost but are relaying the stream from another IP. Or you have entered the wronp IP address in the field. 2. On my machine I run 2 stations if one of the SC_SERV's crashes I start getting this error, killing the process of the server (that crashed) and restarting the server gets rid of the error. " THE PROBLEM IS i have localhost entered AND i am serving from the same machine. And since i am not using multiple servers I don't think either of these solutions are right. I am on a w2k machine. Latest Server, dsp and winamp. The system played all night last night .. some 200+ songs BUT i had 200+ 'a error...' messages this morning <sigh> Once again this is a dsl connection to the net. Server/Host on same box. Newest of the new sw. [This message has been edited by dsig (edited July 10, 2000).] |

Are you running any background applications, some of those could stop communication sockets between the DSP and Winamp, possibly try using your Internet IP address in the DSP, leave the config files set to ANY in the ini file.

KXRM,
Thanks for the reply. Those had all been checked. The culprit turned out to be not having 2 ports open on the firewall <sigh>. As soon as I set 8001 POW it took off and after 300+ tunes no message. This should be one for the FAQs. Thanks again DSig |
