prob with chinese characters
Hi
On Win9x Winamp plays all my chinese MP3s just fine. After i upgraded to Win XP Pro i had native support for displaying chinese, but only if i rename those files again under XP. (i use NJstar) I renamed just about all the folders, not the files yet. When i click on a file under those folders, Winamp won't play the file, it won't read the tag info either, only the file name is displayed in the playlist. If i wanted to play those files, i have to either rename the folder back to English or move the file out of the dir. Micro$oft Media Player plays those files just fine tho. thanks |

Well, Winamp2's Unicode support is a hack, at best. Sorry.

I tried Winamp 3 preview as well, still no luck.
Any chance for proper unicode support in the final version ?

partial fix to chinese char's in playlist
hey..i just wanted to say that I tried one of the recommended fixes and it kinda works. I use WinXP, but I think it should be similar for all the different versions of the OS.
So changed the lanquage in Regional and Language Options under the Control Panel, to Chinese (HK S.A.R) ..or something like that..and i got my playlist to look the one in picture..it used to be a whole jumble or cr@p before that... as you can see though..it still doesn't display it entirely correctly throughout winamp..and obviously..if you have other languages (i have japanese as well)..then that doesn't work ...*shrugs* ..oh well...the ppl at winamp dun seem to be able to help us tho.. |

Hmmmmm I still don't really get it. Do i have to have a chinese version of windows to display the chinese characters?
Could someone tell me what I need to display the characters? I have a xp pro (UK) Os, and winamp v 5.02. I don't know if I have the language package installed for xp, but if I go to chinese websites, explorer displays the chinese characters perfectly. (an indication???) So what do i have to have, and then, what do i have to do? Thanks in advance..! |
