How do I get Winamp 5 to play in surround sound?

I have a 4.1 speaker system on a Win XP system. I cannot get Winamp 5 to play on the rear and sub speakers. I can only get sound from the front speakers.

Winamp 3 plays on all 5 speakers. So does Windows Media Player.

What am I missing?

The sound card is a CMI8738 integrated in a IWILL KK266PLUS-R motherboard.

I'm sure you've searched the forums, so this must not be working. I don't know what else to tell you.

yeah i haeva similar setup, and its all in the direct sound output (me wonders why direct sound isn't setup with the default settings that will ahve it all working)

its damn nice with 5.1 channel sound
