Forcefeeding music?
Is it just me, or are we getting forcefed Top 40 rock? What happened to everyone deciding what they like on thier own?
Take this for example...I'm from Houston, and the "rock" station here plays everything on the "alternative" station in heavy rotation. This weekend...i was in San Antonio and thier rock station actually played rock. Just this weekend I heard Megadeth, Pantera and Metallica before the black album. I guess I just don't get it. www.sardis-2003.com |

Yes....only one...and it's not much to talk about...10 min of Puddle of Mudd or Nickleback followd by 50 min of commercials.

Rock radio in Raleigh sucks, too. There is one station that just calls itself a "rock" station, and they pretty much have a 40-year span that they play. The problem is, during the day they hardly play any rock. They play the Beastie Boys, Bob Marley, and a bunch of 80s stuff. They don't play "rock" until late in the afternoon, and even then, it's at least half commercials.
[edit] Just realized I was listening to a song called "Radio" while posting about... radio.

Its true, I live in Houston too and I also noticed this. I don't normally listen to Rock but I dabble every now and then. Believe me, this problem is found with every Radio station in Houston. HOUSTON RADIO SUCKS!!! There is hardly any variation whatsoever. Its sickening. This is the only place that will make you virtually go out and buy CD's or P2P over the internet because there's nothing special on the radiowaves. |
