My Winamp opens while I'm typing! MAKE IT STOP!!!!
So whenever i'm typing on my old keyboard here winamp will open on its own. I've never found the proper combination of keys that opens it I just know that it is really annoying. It lags my system a lot when its opening specially when I'm playing games. Does anyone know how I can stop it from doing this?

Try disabling global hotkeys. Options > Preferences > Global Hotkeys > uncheck "Enabled."

Maybe a launch shortcut key was accidentally set for Winamp...
Right click on a shortcut icon for Winamp > select Properties > shortcut tab > remove any shortcut key combo in the "Shortcut key:" box |

Hey, that's cool. I didn't know you could set a shortcut key to launch a program without a system hotkey program installed. Here I thought I was familiar with Windows. You learn something new every day.

All of the shortcut keys for winamp are set to none for every shortcut in my system. I don't know if it really is a certain keystroke or what, but it always seems to open more often when I am playing a game like counter-strike or unreal tournament when I am using mainly the w,s,a,d,ctrl, space keys. Its soooo annoying when winamp opens when I'm about to get a head shot on some mofo. thanks for the tip though.

StrangeDo have a hotkey or shortcut key utility/application? Did you install a hotkey "plug-in" for Winamp. There might be one that works in the background whither Winamp is running or not. To be on the safe side and if you have not done so already, run your virus scanner with the latest definitions. |

I have AVG and Norton both updated and run nightly and there haven't been any viruses found. I've also run spybot with the newest updates and everything appears to be clean. I've never installed any hotkey programs that I know of. Does anyone know of any processes running in the background that may trigger this that I could see in the task manager? Thanks for the help.

This happens when playing games, would they be Half Life games? I am not a game player so not to familiar with the game. However I did come across half-life winamp control. Did you install that by any chance?
If not, try a Try a full uninstall/reinstall of Winamp. Still no luck? Please post a reply with system specs as described here. |

alright i think i might have spotted the cause of the problem. after i posted all this i decide that maybe it had something to do with my keyboard drivers for my Logitech iTouch Cordless keyboard so i updated them. get this, now not only does my winamp open randomly while i'm typing, but my windows media player does too. if anyone else is having this problem please let me know if you know what to do about it besides buy a new damn keyboard. anyway thanks for your help winamp guy, but i'm about to go have it out with the dudes at logitech
