uploading files and information

for those of you that have successfully submitted a classic skin...

i'm having problems with the "upload files and information" page.

it keeps going in circles. it appears it will not accept my filenames for the .wsz and 2 .png images. BUT it does not tell me why. no error message. any ideas? do i need to enclose the filenames in quotes? i used the browse button to locate the file so it was not a typing error...

It does that all the time. Often, you just need to leave it for a few hours and try again.

If it's possible (can't remember whether it is), try uploading the skin first, and the screenshots later.

However, if I remember correctly, the new site won't accept PNGs (despite the fact that it is supposed to). Try converting them to JPGs or GIFs and uploading them

.png bad, .jpg or .gif good. thanks StillWater! i'll convert the images and give it another go. like the skins, especially Shag.

Actually, it does take png's, but it also kinda insist you fill out both categories, even if it is with the same one. Give it a try, it worked for me.

however StillWaters suggestion worked for me.

converting .PNGs to .JPGs went through even with only one category filled in. (at least i think it went through).

the website for submitting still needs some work before it is 100% stupid-proof, apparently. calling myself stupid, not you :-)

i tried filling out both categories while using .pngs. still nothing. i would convert to jpgs but i don't want to lose the image quailty. is there a way to save them without compression? i clicked the no compression option in microsoft image composer but it still lost quality. ugh.

Then save them as GIFs.

Remember: photos and/or shitloads of detail, JPGs are fine

Not much detail and/or few colours: GIFs look better


Skins almost always look better as GIFs.
