Winamp won't play .shns anymore...
Didn't see many posts about shnamp:
I've been using winamp for 5 years or so, and shnamp plugin for a year or two now, and it's been perfect. I don't know what may have changed, but now .shns do not play in winamp (2.81) anymore. I've reinstalled winamp and shn plugin, to no avail. When i add a .shn to winamp's playlist it adds the song, and shows the time. When i try to play it however, the HD makes some noise and then after 4 or 5 seconds winamp shuts down. I didn't change anything or add any new plugins so i'm confused. I thought maybe one of you guys might know what to try, and please don't say to use winamp3 instead b/c while it does work for me, i much prefer 2. Thanks, Krugger |

Do you have the latest update of the shnamp plug-in? Did this happen after you updated Winamp? You can find older versions of Winamp at WinampHeaven.
Several things to try… Can you configure the plug-in? Ctrl+P (for Preferences) > Plug-ins > Input > click on the shnamp plug-in > click the Configure button Try disabling other plug-ins visualizations DSP/Effects etc. Try changing between the waveOut and DirectSound plug-ins. Ctrl+P (for Preferences) > Plug-ins > Output > select waveOut or DirectSound This may be a problem with the shnamp plug-in, so try contacting the developer or distributor of the plug-in. Good Luck

Same version of winamp, tried the 2 latest shnamps.
tried removing DSP/Vis plugins. tried waveout vs direct sound, no go for any of it. As soon as play a shn, winamp shuts down. It will read the time when added to the playlist, but does not play it. i'm stumped. edit- no real properties to configure for shnamp. |

holy blast from the past
i had this on subscribe so it sent me an email. it turned out it was a plugin i had installed, for me it was the General Purpose plugin 'reproduction control' try removing all your 3rd party plugins, and if that works, put them back in the windows directory one at a time till you see which the problem is. |

SHN failure
I am also experiencing the same problem as descibed here. Has anyone contacted the Plug-in author on this problem?

thanks for the responses --
A reinstall did the trick. If it was as you say, Krugger, that one of the plug ins was causing the problems, I'm not sure what it was. All'yall check that your shns still work after you install new plug ins so we can figure out which one is the troublemaker. |

well like i said for me it was called "reproduction control" and it was a general plugin that allowed shortcuts and a few random other things.
this was it: http://winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=2049 |
