Workaround
I'm having the same problems as the thread starter. Most links under ML "Internet Radio" do not work - in particular those that go to shoutcast.com/.../tunein...
Desperate for your music fix? Go to www.shoutcast.com and use the directory and "tune in" buttons there. Seems to work for me, with all the stations that DONT work from "Internet Radio". Enjoy. Seb

I believe the problem with winamp radio has something to do with the .pls not loading automatically into Winamp 5.02. For me it had something to do with me uninstalling Gozilla. Before that I had no problems with any of the radio stations. Now to get it to play at all I had to reinstall Gozilla, goto www.shoutcast.com, find the station, download it through Gozilla, then double click on the .pls file in Gozilla to get it to play in Winamp. This works on all stations but it is a very slow and annoying process considering it was all done automatically in Winamp before.
Let me know if anyone nows how to automate this process again. |

Radio was OK for a bit, then down again
*sigh* Shoutcast was OK for a few days, seems to be persnickity--along with most other Net radio stations--today.
No problems playing if I go to the sites, though. Any idea if this is a Winamp thing or a Shoutcast thing?

This is the URL provided inside winamp and it does not work.
http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/tunein...e=playlist.pls This is URL for the same stream found at shoutcast that works. http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/shoutc...e=filename.pls Notice the difference. I've noticed that this is consistent throughout winamp and shoutcast. Apparently there is some data base problem that is sending the wrong URL to Winamp. |

I'm having problems again too. It's not that big of a deal anymore because I created bookmarks to all the radio stations I listen to. Clicking on each bookmark calls Winamp if it isn't already up and starts streaming the audio.

Clicking on stations in Winamp doesn't work, but clicking on "Tune In" on Shoutcast's site does. I don't know why it works like that at the moment. It really must be fixed immediately!!

same here
Sometimes I can connect by clicking the station link in winamp 5. Sometimes it works other times it doesn't. When it doesnt work correctly I can go into the videos and watch them but not radio stations. Only way I can connect to a station is by going to shoutcast site itself and clicking the link to play.
I think this is perhaps a bug that we all hope to be address in the next version. It works good when it works but something seems to be quirky when it attempt to get the HTTP response but doesn't play the station. |

Make a Bookmark of the favorit stations (rightclick - 'send to: bookamrks'). Go to the bookmarks and edit them (mark and CTRL-E). Copy the name of the sation and search the internetsite http://www.shoutcast.com/ Clicking on the link schould play the stream. Copy this link and paste it into the winamp-bookmark-edit-file field. Now you can just click on the bookmarks to hear your favorite stations, without having to open the southcaste site everytime. Have fun.Torsten |

Is it because of 5.02?
Before I installed WA 5.02 on 03/05, everything was fine. But exactly with the update to 5.02, it didn't work anymore.
And cause so many users have got this problem, think they changed something in 5.02. |

Yeah, I can vouch that it wasn't a 5.02 problem only b/c I use 5.01, but, anyway, like DJ Egg said it's working fine again...for me at least.
![]() EDIT: Actually, not all the radio stations work for me but a majority of them do. |

Well I've been using winamp 3 for months with absolutely no problems. Yesterday I upgraded to winamp 5.02 and the tune in buttons on shoutcast don't work. I get an error message saying it can't find the pls file in my temp folder. It works if I go the the internet site and play it from there though. Something is not right with version 5.02 and it's very annoying, especially since you can't listen to all shoutcast sites by doing that. When you click on "listen" from a lot of sites, it takes you back to their listing in shoutcast........Where the Tune In Button doesn't work!

I still get a message saying Internet Explorer was unable to open internet site when I hit the tune in button in shoutcast. I guess I'm the only one with this problem. I've uninstalled and installed 3 times already. Maybe something went wrong during the Winamp 3 uninstall but I tend to agree with gas-attack's first post, but now he's up and running. I guess I'll try installing winamp 2 and see what happens.

Felipe182,
It should work by simply double-clicking one of the listings in the ML. |

You are correct whipthatllama. I tried it and it now works from inside winamp. I guess I would like to be able to access from Shoutcast because they seem to have many more high bitrate stations, at least, according to the listings.

Just incease the amount of stations to bring down...
Prefs > Media Library > Internet Radio/TV Maximum number of streams to fetch from directory I've got mine set to 2000 but you can go higher if you wish. Then, when Winamp brings down the list, change the Bandwidth type to Broadband... |

I think yhe problem is shoutcast. With Winamp I can't get all stations I had before and with "boombox" I get zero stations. So, what's wrong.

Aah... in other words, technically speaking, it's illegal!
ShoutCAST streams are copyright protected. Rules StreamRippers - Due to legal liability issues, any information or references to information about streamripping applications are strictly prohibited within these forums. Problem with .pls at www.winamp.com
I have the same problem as: Stesslo
I have 2 pc's with XPsp1 and IE6sp1. On one of the pc's, the .pls links from www.winamp.com work. On the other pc the links does not work. The only difference is an update from IE6 (KB832894). When I remove the update, the .pls links works. After I reinstalled the update, it did not work anymore. I have repeated this on several (w2k) workstations at work and I had the same results. It has something to do with the cross-domain security model of Internet Explorer. See for more info: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../MS04-004.mspx (ps I know use Opera to open the .pls files at www.winamp.com) |

Hey dudes, I'm still havin a problem with the radio. They all load fine in Winamp (besides RantRadio Punk) but when I play them, they buffer from 0% to 100%. After about ten seconds, the buffering slows to a crawl and it will just stop at a certain percentage. This is happening on ALL stations no matter what I do. I have tried playing them from Shoutcast's website, but it still happens. (In case your wondering my internet connection, it is ADSL). Anyone else having this problem?
Later. |

Okay, the ShoutCAST dir and Library > Internet Radio have both been working fine for the past few days, so I think it's time to unsticky this thread again.
afaik, everything is now fixed, so if you're still having problems, then it's something at your end to blame. |
