Switch default players

I know I'm such a stupid n00b, but I just downloaded Winamp today and I can't figure this out. I used to have Realplayer, and it's my default media player, so how do I swtich it to Winamp? I've got the Lord of the Rings Two Towers skin on, if that makes any difference.

It dosen't matter what skin you use. Go to Prefences(Ctrl+P) > File Types and select what type of files you want associated with Winamp. Make sure you have "Restore file assocations at Winamp start-up" checked if you want Winamp to always have these file assocations.

For some reason it's not working for me.

I've changed the settings in Winamp and all the other media players so that Winamp was the only one that played all files by default, and even went into My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > File Types and changed all the Open With's to Winamp (including Audio CD). But whenever I put in a music CD into either CD drive, WMP opens on AutoPlay instead of Winamp.

Any advice?

XP-user? => Tried this?: Right-click on your CD drive in explorer, click on prefs (or however this is called in english,it's the last option to choose in context menu), then choose "AutoPlay" and then "Audio CD" and check "no action" or if available "Play audio cds with winamp".
(sry if some expressions are wrong, but since january I've been no longer a XP user)
