Trying to find a plug in...that I already have!

OK!
I really really really hope that this question is not already asked SOMEWHERE in this great big forum but I haven't been able to find an answer yet so I thought I'd send it out.

I'm trying to install 2 plug ins that I recieved to get a pedal to work with winamp. One was just a typing speed meter which is in the DSP/Effect category. The other should be a plug in to the pedal and should be installed into the General category.

So... I installed them (together, via the exe file that they came with). They are both correctly in the plug ins file under winamp. Yet... when I go to Preferences, the typing speed meter shows up in the proper category but the pedal plug in is nowhere to be found!

I experimented a little bit, if I change the prefix of the file name to one of the other categories, like dsp_ or something then it shows up in whatever category matches. But, when it has the gen_ it won't show up in that category!

ARGH! Any suggestions or age-old wisdom for me?

Once again, I apologize profusely if this is a question that is really really dumb or asked all of the time. I at least can say that I really did try to find the answer and I really am stumped!!!

Thanks for any help in advance!

Try shutting down Windows and rebooting the computer.

Can you post a link to the problematic plug-in?

Well, I've rebooted a number of times (as I actually did the install a few days ago). I even uninstalled and reinstalled the plug ins as well. I don't know if I can provide a link to the plug in because I got it from the company that I'll be working for (as soon as the plug in starts to work) and I think it's of their own creation so I'm not sure how the rules work about that stuff. Ha ha, plus I'm to even sure if I'd know how to provide a link to it!

I've been asking the company for help but they aren't very responsive and I'm also working remotely so the 7 hour time difference makes it really tricky so I thought I'd pass it on to see if any of you guys has a guess.

The only other thing that I can think of is that when I install the plug ins the computer sends me a message telling me that if I inable the playrate plug in it will disable the current Winamp DSP plug in (if there is any). I said "ok". That shows to me I think that the playrate plug in was actually activiated. When it shows the details of the installation (what was extracted, what was installed, exc.) there is a line that says that the playrate plug in was "activated" but there isn't a similar one for the pedal plug in. So... the playrate plug in works fine, the pedal plug in is nowhere to be found in winamp so I kind of wonder, has it not been "activated" and if so, how does one do that?!?
