command line arguments
I've searched for command line argument reference and noticed this link posted in several messages:
http://www.winamp.com/nsdn/winamp2x/dev/sdk/api.jhtml but that link does not seem to work. I dl the sdk and it did not seem to have the api reference alluded to in the above link. Any help is appreciated as I am trying to do a couple of things via a batch call or maybe even scheduled task in winXP. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

NSDN is being "renovated". I don't know if that link has moved or deleted. However the following is a copy (of the command line interface) from the link.
Using the command line interface to control Winamp The simplest, easiest, least powerful way of controlling Winamp is to execute winamp.exe yourself. By simply calling winamp.exe with various command line options, you do a number of things. For example: C:\path\to\winamp\winamp.exe /ADD C:\mp3\whatever.mp3 As you might notice, what you can actually do using the command line interface is pretty limited. It is really easy to get started with, though. You can also specify multiple files and or directories on the command line, such as: C:\path\to\winamp\winamp.exe /NEW "C:\my mp3s\" "C:\bigplaylist.pls" "C:\download\new song.mp3" There is also /BOOKMARK - places a file in Winamp's bookmarks example C:\Program Files\Winamp\Winamp.exe /BOOKMARK C:\Media Files\Cool Sound.WAV Also take a look at the plug-ins CLEveR or WACommand |

Thanks a ton
Thanks Johnny,
If you notice that the nsdn area is updated with this information and think of it, would you mind posting a reminder. In any case, I appreciate your time and effort answering my query. I actually found that once you know a few of the cl args that you can start and stop Winamp quite nicely using the XP schedule task control panel applet. I was wanting to start Winamp on a nice soothing stream to help me sleep and then stop after about an hour. Also works nicely as an alarm clock with a "loud" station. Thanks again. |

If the schedule task solution works for you, that is great. However, if you are interested, there are plug-ins for sleep or alarm type functions...

Thanks again JohnnyMac. Your time and efforts are appreciated. You've made this a very nice and useful forum for me even though I don't have a lot of time to "play" with the computers.
