Winamp stops playing songs randomly

Hello, I hope someone can help me with my problem, I did a search and came up with results that did not apply to my problem. I did a completely clean install of 5.02 after formatting my harddrive 2 weeks or so ago. It worked fine and then it would stop randomly while playing any song. It varies in where it stops and can sometimes play several songs with no problem. Sometimes it even slows down like I have it at half speed but I havent noticed that lately. I uninstalled and even installed 5.01. I did not add any new plugins. I even moved all of my songs from my backup harddrive to my main one thinking maybe there was a bottleneck or something. Everytime it stops I have to go into task manager and unload it from memory. It doesnt seem to take up too much memory at all actually. After totally shutting it off like this sometimes I can restart it and it will play for a bit again, and sometimes i have to totally restart my computer before it will play. I thought it might be the Kazaa codec pack but I even uninstalled that and no change. Here are my specs

P4 2.4 GHz Dell with H/T enabled
256 MB of DDR RAM at 400MHz
Windows XP SP1
MSI GeForce 4 Ti4200 64MB RAM
SoundBlaster Audigy 2 (could this be the problem? but it doesnt affect other media players)

Songs play fine in WMP 9 and BS player so I am not sure what in the world is going on. Any ideas or if you need any other information hit me up. Can't live w/out the WINAMP!

I have almost the same problem except windows comes up with an error message saying winamp needs to close. it'll just stop playing songs randomly, but winamp itself doesn't freeze. buttons still press and playlist can still scroll, it just won't play anymore songs.

my specs are:
p4 2.4
256mb ddr
winxp sp1
sound blaster live! (i haven't had problems with this card for anything else)

also, it worked just fine with 5.0 before i installed 5.2
