Rescanning Folders with the Media Library: Disadvantages of short scan intervals?

I like Winamp5's new media player. I like its ability to automatically scan folders to find new media. By default it is set to rescan folders after a very long time - 2 hours I think. What's the harm in setting this down to a very short time; say, 1 minute? How much processor time does it take to do such a scan in a folder with about 100 songs? 10,000 songs?

The autoscan feature is great. But I'd like to be able to download music and have it automatically appear instantly in Winamp's playlist. Usually I want to play a song immediately after getting it and the best way to find a song is with the media player and not the file->open dialog.

Thoughts?

That would defiantly increase CPU usage and really nail your hard drive with access. Probably not a good idea. But if you want to monitor a single folder and have anything new added to the current playlist you might want to try On the DL plug-in.
