WinAMP 3 can't play streaming audio on XP
I have several computers. Most are running Win 2K and the older WinAMP 1.82 player. These have no trouble playing a Shoutcast stream embedded as a link on a web browser, such as http://24.151.63.87:8000/listen.pls .
However, on my new XP Home (Service Pack 1 installed), I have WinAMP 3 there and it will load when I click on a Shoutcast link like the one above, but it just sits there and does nothing. Sometimes it displays the URL in the title window and that's all. Pushing PLAY button does not start the stream playback. Any ideas what might be misconfigured in WinAMP or XP? |

Winamp3 1.0 is no longer available or supported. Please upgrade to Winamp 5.03 and see if the problem persists.

I finally got around to installing the currently-available version of WinAMP Lite.
Unfortuately, this Windows XP computer still cannot play shoutcast streams that my other two Windows 2000 PCs with WinAMP 1.82 can. It launches, then displays "1. listen(1)" in the title area. No sound. Any ideas? Or maybe I should install Windows 2000 on this laptop? UPDATE: I disabled the 'check for new versions of WinAMP' and the next time I clicked on a shoutcast link, it spooled up and worked as it should. Odd.. but it's working now. |

I cleared the browser cache, but the problem continues to manifest itself after rebooting the PC.
Sony GRX560 laptop with XP Home SP1. I have to click the link maybe 5-18 times before it streams. Short of that, it just sits there with[listen1] in the display. Once I get it 'unstuck', it will start the stream on the first click. And it's fine until the next time I shut down Windows XP. Upon booting, it won't play the link unless I repeated and stubbornly keep clicking and clicking and finally it relents and starts to stream. I'm perplexed. |

I'm having the exact same problem, although mine just says "playlist (1)" and sits there. Anyone know what the problem is? I can stream stuff through the media library but not by clicking links.
Thanks. |

Looks like a server problem, just tried the link above and cannot connect.
Get 'timmed out' if connecting directly to the link or 'error connecting to host' using drag and drop. Does this happen with all the links you try or just this one ? UJ |

No joy as well with streamed music
I also am not getting any joy when I try to connect. I remember this happening with another version I had before. The solution then was to clear you browser cache but I cant remember how you do this. Can someone please tell me how you do this as I have forgotten.
Cheers
