Non-utilization of speakers

I've been a long time winamp user and would hate to stop using it.

I just got the 5.1 speaker set up yesterday, and when I use any other program I get crisp sound from all the speakers. However..

When I use winamp I don't get sound from the central speaker, and the rear speakers are real low.

Are there any advanced settings I have to check out or something? My pan bar is centered, and the volume even at 100% doesn't change much.

Help will be much appreciated..
