Of Sonique and Winamp.
I tend to be rather verbose when I type, so please bare with me...
I use Sonique, have for many years, and will continue to use it for as long as I enjoy it versus other players. I don't care at all whether you do, or what you use rather then it, in the context of what's "better." It's a personal choice, both mine, and yours. Any suggestions or offers are meant exactly as that, suggestions and offers, to be accepted at your will, I don't mean to force anything on you. It's obvious that Sonique tends to be rather unliked here, but I ask that if you have any interest in these offers, to consider them, if you haven't any interest, I didn't intend them to be for you. This is in response to "trolling" and yet, with the hope of perhaps getting a clearer idea of where the two groups stand, and perhaps, as Gofer hoped, some friendly rivalry, though I'll try to keep it sans his rather colorful method of speaking. I'd like to again, present his offer, perhaps with some clarification of what potentially willing WA participants would like to have from this, and to generally make this simply what Gofer intended, a small contest testing the ability of WA and Sonique themers in the context of scripting ability. Although he didn't clarify it, and I've neither the ability to do scripting with either program, I'll attempt to see if I can't make it a bit more understandable. - Effectively, the contest was/is designed to be a test of both the engine capability of the two players, and the ability of it's users to being forth the potential of the aforementioned. - Obviously, if you are a Winamp user, your entry would be of a Winamp skin, NOT a Sonique skin, this is again, a friendly test of the other's abilities. Sonique users, would, likewise, do a Sonique theme. - Taking minor rules that Gofer wanted but were rather rough about: - Submissions do not need to be part of a coherent skin. They need only be submissions demonstrating scripting power and ability. They are not intended to be fully working skins, effectively, but obviously if someone liked their design, you'd be free to do so, but that's outside this contest's scope. - "Graphics" don't matter, by this I mean that submissions will be judged entirely on the complexity and flow of animated whatnot's. So more accurately, static graphics don't matter. (direct quote of Gofer, I believe this is quite explained.) He was yet to explain judging method, but I believe equal parts members, probably best nominated by each's forum's members, be the judges. Again, judging itself should be based only on complexity and "flow" not graphical ability or functionality of the submission as a final skin. Some final clarifications in nicely separated lists: - This is not asking for WA5 skins, but rather, submisions for a friendly contest, there is no prize, and it's only goal is to perhaps stimulate development between the two programs. Contests tend to bring forth talent that way ![]() - Please forget any past rivalry or immature acts, I'm offering this as an idea just for the sake of seeing the talent of these designers, I don't care about anything else, I just like seeing the result of people motivated solely to do the best they can. - It's still not a skin! And more specifically, not a demand for WA5 skins, this is a contest, and between WA5 skins and SQ2 skins, not just WA5! - I'd love to see potential interest and maybe potential ideas as to clarify what each party would want out of this contest, namely, any restrictions or rules you'd like to see. Thanks for your time, and I'd love to see this work. ^_^ - Zhek |
