Stream with Ogg Vorbis or with MP3Pro?
We are planning to add an Internet radio to our very popular Spanish Christian Portal.
We need your advise. We are not sure which codec to use to encode and stream our music. We want to stream at 56-64 kbps to 100 users. We are considering to use MP3Pro (Shoutcast) or Ogg Vorbis (Icecast) because of the small space they take. Also we are aware that AAC will be the substitute of MP3 we are not sure which would be the best selection for us. I will not like to coded all of our music and in a few months re-codec again. I know Ogg is open source and is becoming more available in players (Winamp, Real audio, Sonique, Jetaudio) and that MP3 pro is very popular for radio streaming but it not available in many players because licensing cost concerns. Questions: 1. Listeners that have a standard mp3 player can hear Ogg Vorbis files with a regular MP3 quality? (I know that's possible with MP3Pro) 2. What would be our best alternative: MP3pro or Ogg? Thanks in advance; Carlos Echevarria www.mercadocristiano.com |
