Seeking a rule-based Playlist generator or other means of mixing rating and play date
What I am looking for (and I am having trouble articulating this which is making it harder to search for) is a way to have WinAMP play files in an intellegent order that fits my rules.
You can sort-of do this in WMP and iTunes, but not 100%. I want the algorithm to assign songs a score based on their rating, their last time played and a tiny bit of randomness to keep them from always coming in the same order, then pick them based on this. This idea is that a really highly rated song would play more often, but songs that are getting played to death would get scored lower to even things out. So essentially, I want to mix the two concepts so lower rated songs eventually come up, but only when its been a while. Another way of putting it is overtime you would see a distribution where the higher rated songs were played more often, but not overwhelmingly. I listen to winamp all day long at work, and I am finding I either have to listen to high rated songs OVER and OVER, or listen to the songs in the same pattern over and over as they catch up in play count, with no attention to their rating, so they are all the same egalatarian frequency. LOL, and to keep being demanding, I would like just a hair of randomness so that it just doesn't cycle through the same patterns over time. Anyone know of anything that functions like this. I can sort by date or playcount to get the less frequent. I can sort by rating to get the highest, but what I don't know or see how to is to MIX the two criteria. Thanks! |

I kinda understand and it would be very cool. It would be rewriting the shuffle mode which I don't think they're going to do. If someone could make a plugin for this it'd be damned cool though.
