Sex/Genes/Chromosomes/Talents
Hello,
you can call me a genetic freak, likely because of my deep interest in the human genetics and their amazing genes. i've been a 'fan' of winamp and decided to hang out here at the forums once again (but this time to post) to ask you all a question... There are people who are as good as others, and there are some who are better, much better, than others and it will stay that way. Now, i'm talking the guys who will get better than others no matter here... does this have to do with the genes,of physical feature or the genes of learning quick and the enviroment (optional choice for enviroment). Let's take Michael Jordon as an excellent example here... He happens to be the All-time best basketball player, correct me if I am wrong; he's won awards and scored tons of points. Now, I know for a fact that he practices, EVERYBODY practices in the NBA right? Sure. But there are still guys in the NBA who practice much more than Michael Jordon and MJ is still better. So what can you all say about this? Thanks and regards, surrquake P.S. - "Learn from the man with the good genes." Meaning you should seek for advice or learn and practice from someone who is "naturally" skilled in something. What do you think, is this a good idea? Thanks. |

I don't like this conversation already.
Were talking about this in class right now, and it's one of the most boring things I've ever heard in my life. Scotty Doesn't Know |

I'm sorry, maybe we can make this more interesting by adding some decorative lights and music? What would you live? Do you enjoy rock? rap?
LOL i'm being sarcastic, of course... You're pretty lucky you're learning this.. I can't believe I don't anymore. I've already purchased 5 books on genetics. Maybe you can share us what you learned and you could maybe perhaps entertain me. |

I don't pay attention, so I can't exactly say what I'm learning.

"Learn from the man with the good jeans."
Meaning learn from my flatmate who just bought a rather expensive and stylish new pair of Levis.

Well, to answer your post in a more serious way, I think that the genes have to do with talent and skills but they are not the last word on when it comes to become the best in somehting, education is the key in that topic.
Of course, if you want to become the strongest man in the world, you need to have the alleles for the ability of muscles to grow faster and make up a bigger percentage of your body. BUT no bby is born a superhero, training and practice is all that counts here, even with "bad" genes concerning strength, you can still become a lot stronger than the normal guy at the next corner although not THE strongest one ever. Same goes with instrument playing, social, linguistic skills and intelligence - you certainly have some genes that maybe make you have an advantage by birth but the majority of your nerve cells in your brain will not be connected until the end of the first few months after your birth and it will continue the first years of your life, so if you are not challenged and educated, the brain will not grow the way it could according to it's capability. I think that both things are equally important although it would be easier to achieve a certain goal if your genes were a little "worse" and you just trained a little more than if you had great capabilities from your genes but you were not educated and didn't learn how to use them (think Kaspar Hauser). By the way, I study Biochemistry an dfind genetics interesting as well ![]() Mia

I think that learning from someone with good genes may or not be a good idea, depending on exactly what you're learning. It could be that someone would have very steady hands due to their genes, or perhaps due to training, environment, etc.
Certain things simply can't be improved significantly. If you're a pretty slow learner, you're not going to become Einstien, your genes won't allow it. On the same note, if you're short, and you're not still growing, you're basically screwed... What was the question again? Freedom of speech is the basic freedom of humanity. When you've lost that, you've lost everything. 1\/\/4y 34|<$p4y 1gp4y 33714y, 0d4y 0uy4y? | Roses are #FF0000; Violets are #0000FF; chown -R ${YOU} ~/base The DMCA. So if the genes won't allow it, do we get into the genetic engineerings will happen in centuries?
Though the genes won't allow it, why not study about the naturals and try to at least study what they talk like, act like, and seem like to most other people. Maybe asking various people whom you want or by studying around them you will notice what makes them good in things. |

I still don't understand the question.

Question: What can you say about those who are good in sports, music, etc? Does this have to do with the genes?

Umm.. maybe he(?)'s asking if there's such a thing as "natural talent", and if so, is that actually predetermined by genetics?
*shrugs* it sounded good

Think of it like this: People born with natural skills just have more potential ie learn quicker, higher capacity, etc.
Alex Jones: Do you want the puppet on the right or the puppet on the left? What a bunch of garbage; liberal democrat, conservative, republican. It's all there to control you! Two sides of the same coin. Two management teams bidding for control, the CEO job of Slavery, Incorporated! The truth is out there in front of you, but they lay out this buffet of lies. I'm sick of it, and I'm not going to take a bite out of it, do you got me? |

It is ALL about the genes.
That answer doesn't go over very well in our "touchy-feely" society, but it is true. The search for the ultimate signature continues apace. I have journeyed from the peaks of Nepal to the depths of oceanic trenches. I have crossed deserts, jungles, swamps, savannas, steppes and frozen wastelands. I have consulted with seers, swamis, sages, scholars and savants. The peregrination proceeds purposefully. |
