Hmm.. does buffering increase or decrease quality??
short question.. i always thought buffering made the song skip less.. etc.. etc.. so, less holes in it.. but i was using modplug and it said that buffering makes sound quality worse.. i dont get it =/

someone correct me if i am wrong, but it won't make ur song sound worse. if the buffer is too large it can slow your computer down since you have so much memory commited to holding the song rather than other tasks. to small of a buffer and you could have skipping as your computer does other tasks.
When you take a hand and chop the fingers off... what do u get? That would be the knub. |

Yep. Buffering will delay the song and increase memory usage and decrease cpu usage.
If your cpu and sound card can do it, use small buffers. If clicks occur, increase the buffer size. The sound itself will not increase by changing buffer sizes, but too small buffers will cause problems (see above). eeeee eeeeeee eeeee eeeee eeeee 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 88 8eee8 8e 8 8 8eee8 8e 8 8 8 88 8 88 8 8 88 8 88 8 8 8 88 8 88 8 8 88 8 88 8 8eee8 |

shouldnt have any effect on sound quality. its just storing data in ram as opposed to disk/network in an attempt to speed up delivery.
