Playlist doesn't show files

I'm not sure if I'm being really dumb here or not. Came back to winamp after I bought a new computer with music match on it. Winamp is much nicer. However, I'm fairly sure it was working before, but the other day I realised that the playlist editor wasn't showing anything. When it's minimised to just the bar it displays the current track, but if you make it bigger no tracks are listed.
Any ideas?

Another problem I have is that when playing CDs the very ends of tracks seem to be skipped, which can be annoying. I had the same problem in musicmatch I think, but also in Winamp 2.8 on my old machine.
Are there any settings I might be able to change to sort this?

Cheers

To fix the first issue, try switching to the classic 2x base skin, and then back to the Winamp Modern skin.

If the problem persists, you may need to delete winamp.ini and maybe studio.xnf (both in the Winamp dir).
Note: this will reset all settings back to default.

Also note that, even though it's rare, this issue is known and is being looked into.

For the CD problem
Well, really, we could do with knowing some relevant system specs first,
especially: cpu, sound card, cd-rom model, windows os, directx version.

Also confirm that you're using Winamp 5.03 (and it was a clean install with no 3rd-party plugins), and you've installed the update patch.

You can try this for now:
Prefs > Plugins > Input > CD plugin > config
Uncheck: Use Sonic engine...

(requires winamp restart to take effect)

This is assuming that "Use DAE" is checkmarked, is compatible with your system, and an aspi layer manager is installed (but we need system specs before going any further into this).

I had the same problem, and switching to a classic skin, and then back to a modern one fixed the problem.

Just FYI.

Hi,
That temporarily sorts the playlist problem, cheers :-)

I tried disabling the Sonic Engine, which had no effect. I have 2 DVD drives, both of which have the same problem, I tested in Media Player, and the transition between CD tracks was fine. After looking further, I think it's actually a problem with all files (mp3s etc.), just it happens to be more noticeable on cds because the tracks are often blended together.

Here are my system specs:
I am using a clean winamp install, now with patch.
OS: Win XP Home Version 5.1.2600 (i.e with SP1 buld 2600)
Direct X: 9.0b

DVD Drives: Pioneer DVD RW DVR-107D;
Standard IDE DVD ROM (can't find manufacturer)
CPU: Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz
Sound Card: C Media AC97 6 channel sound card ( I think)
BIOS: Phoenix- AwardBIOS v6.00PG
Memory: 512 Mb

As I meantioned, I had the same problem in Winamp 2.8 with my old computer:
1GHz P3, 640Mb RAM, can't remember much else.

Cheers

PS: When I reply to these messages, am I supposed to just reply, or modify the original?

Try the DirectSound Output tweaks here

Also check to see if you've enabled the crossfader and/or gapless playback, and maybe the values are too high?

I tried those tips, but to no effect, but I've never really looked round the settings properly before.
In Plugins>Output>DirectSound>Buffering I put buffer ahead on track change up to full (probably excessive). This worked, and then I ticked the 'enable cpu usage control' box to prevent it hogging the CPU.
The problem seems to be sorted now,
Thankyou
