Farscape RETURNS! Scifi Channel picks up miniseries!
TVGuide.com Reports
FAR OUT!: Farscape is returning home to the Sci Fi Channel. The cabler has finalized a deal to air Farscape: Peacekeeper War, the highly anticipated four-hour miniseries that will tie up all the loose ends left dangling when the network axed the acclaimed drama last year. The project has already wrapped production and is slated to air at the end of the year. Scifi-wire Reports SCI FI Brings Back Farscape SCI FI announced it will be bringing back Farscape with an all-new miniseries — called Farscape: Peacekeeper War — slated to air in the fourth quarter of this year. The four-hour miniseries picks up where the cliffhanger series finale left off and will reunite John Crichton (Ben Browder), Aeryn Sun (Claudia Black) and the rest of the Moya crew. BBC Cult site report Farscape returns, really! US Sci-Fi Channel will be showing the Farscape mini-series. It's been the worst-kept secret in sci fi, but there's finally been an official announcement that the Farscape mini-series does exist - and will be shown first on the US Sci-Fi Channel. The four-hour mini-series, shot in Australia over the last few months, will pick up from where Bad Timing, the season four finale left off, and will be called Farscape: Peacekeeper War. In a slightly surprising turn of events, it's been confirmed that the mini-series will premiere on the US Sci-Fi Channel - the cable channel that cancelled the series in the first place. Broadcast is scheduled for the end of this year. The mini-series was co-written by show creator Rockne O'Bannon and Executive Producer David Kemper, and directed by Brian Henson - so it looks like we'll be going back to the show's roots. No details as to which characters will return in the mini-series have yet been announced, but hints from an unofficial Internet Movie Database entry suggest that we'll be seeing more of Stark, Scarran War Minister Akhna, Emperor Staleek and even Jool, as well as the usual Moya crew. An official announcement is expected from the Sci-Fi Channel shortly. Currently we have no news on any potential BBC broadcast, but more details when we have them. Farscape creator Rockne O'Bannon and executive producer David Kemper wrote the miniseries, which was directed by Brian Henson. Peacekeeper War was produced by the Jim Henson Company and Hallmark Entertainment, and executive produced by Robert Halmi Jr. SCI FI will make the official announcement at noon on Monday, April 5, during the channel's advertising sales "upfront" presentation. It was on FOX News Channel and CNNHN too! ![]()

Weird. Why would sci-fi cancel the series and then make a mini-series?
