Lollapalooza cancelled

Sad (for some) but true (for all). Could it be that the lineup didn't appeal to the all-day-music-festival audience demographic?

it's just more indications of a music industry recession. too bad they can't see that the ability to turn this around is right in front of their faces.

I think about this a lot (i'm an indie musician, struggling band, blah blah blah). I think the future is MUCH smaller, much more highly focused tours. I haven't been to a megatour in a LONG time, it just isn't worth the ticket $$ to see 1 out of 10 bands.

I think it is more then that. The music being produced by mainstream labels is of such poor quality that people are seeking alternatives. They are stumbling because they no longer have people buying their entire record collections over again and can't afford to take the risks and sign acts on like they used to. Their business model is changing whether they like it or not.

It's all about Warped Tour, 30 bucks, 30+ bands, most of them worth at least $1 to see. Bad Religion alone is worth the entire $30 if you ask me.

The Warped Tour is looking might fine indeed this year. I'm mainly going to see Billy Talent and Anti-Flag. All the others are extras.

I'm not into punk music anymore...

It'd be cool seeing the original Black Sabbath lineup in this summer's OZZFest, if Ozzy will be in the condition to perform...

It's strange, whenever indie artists and concerts are discussed, the conversation immediately shifts to solely rock bands (of whatever kind, usually punk, classic rock, etc.)

Not that it bothers me, but why is that?
