Nullsoft Streaming/America Online
I'm an AOL 9.0 Broadband user. If I access videos from http://channels.netscape.com/ns/musi...os/default.jsp or
http://sports.channel.aol.com/mlb/video for example or any other video that requires the pop-up Netscape/AOL player, I can't see the video - the screen is blank. I only get audio. I've been told the Netscape/AOL pop-up player uses Nullsoft streaming and that is where the problem is. Is this true? Any suggestions on how I can get the pop-up player working? Tommy |

For issues with AOL please contact AOL Technical support. This forum is for the Winamp player.

Drewbar is right.
These are the Winamp forums, where we provide technical support for the Winamp player. If you were experiencing a problem with getting Winamp 5.03 to play the (same) NSV video streams from www.winamp.com/videos/ then you would've come to the right place. If you've got a problem with the AOL browser not downloading the Nullsoft Streaming Video ActiveX control, then you will need to contact AOL Support, as it is an issue with their software, not ours. It would be just the same if you were trying to view QuickTime, Shockwave, Windows Media, or RealMedia streams in your browser. You wouldn't be told to contact Apple, Macromedia, Microsoft, or RealNetworks if the browser couldn't download/use their ActiveX controls. Alas, you'll find that most people here use Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Opera browsers, and not the AOL browser. All of the relevant Nullsoft ActiveX Controls are up and working. See here for living proof, by clicking the nsv.cab links. Further info here and here The only thing I could do to help is to move this to one of the General Discussion or NSV forums (as it is not Winamp related) and see if there's anyone there who's experienced a similar problem... Apart from that, I suggest you maybe install Winamp 5.03 Full and make sure it is the default NSV player. It is also advised that you install the official update patch afterwards. |
