i believe i have version 5.03 (just bought it 2 days ago.) when i go to play a cd on winamp the playlist only shows "1. Artist - Track 1" and so on instead of the artist's name and track. i played the same cd in windows media player and the names and tracks were listed. i dont know what to do.

On most cd's there is no artist and track information available. That's why Winamp uses CDDB (it's a cd database where information is stored from lots of cd's). That's the only way to show artist and track information in Winamp. And yes, the first time you insert a cd and cddb needs to look up the information, you'll need an internet connection. Winamp will store the found information on your harddisk, so the second time you won't need a connection.
Some cd's do have 'cd text'. That means the information is available on the cd itself. Winamp does not support cd text... |

Ok. As said, that might be because your cd has cdtext: maybe Windows Media Player supports it. Winamp certainly does not.
Or Windows Media Player has access to the internet, and Winamp doesn't. See in the link I posted to allow Winamp access to CDDB. |
