Winamp & Karaoke

I've down a few searches thru here & found little bits of info, but no definative answer.

I have a PC hooked up to my TV. PC runs win xp & winamp with the cdg plugin. Can hear the mp3 just fine & same with the text scroll... but, and you know what's comin... you can't hear the mic. I tried the Ctrl-L then type linein:// thing I found in the forums to no avail. I've tested the mic with the little app in xp to test such things & it is working. The mic volume is turned up. I've looked all over for something in winamp to adjust mic volume, but unless I'm stupid, none exists. I saw where someone suggested running a seperate copy of winamp for the mic audio (that's where I did the linein:// thing) and that didn't seem to work either.

So... is it possible for this to work or not? FWIW, I'm not going into the karaoke business or anything... the wife just wants me to set this up so that all these people comin to our place for the 4th picnic, will have some way to entertain themselves when it rains. Which apparently it's going to do. :/

Thanks in advance for your help.

Are you talking about the Windows mixer and which microphone volume (Volume Control or Recording Control)? Maybe you already tried this, double click on the little speaker icon in the systray (tasktray) and make sure mute for Microphone is not checked.

Also check the soundcard connection and make sure the microphone was not accidentally plugged in to the "Line In" jack

Well, I did all that before.. but I went thru & rechecked all the settings & rebooted the machine & it's working now. Odd tho that it had been rebooted a few times over the last few days of tryin to get it working.

Appreciate the tips... maybe your karma fixed it for me. Thanks

JonnyMac's karma did it again!

If you're bored go here or, if the boredom is more serious, here.
