Winamp crashes over multiple winxp user accounts
I have winamp set up to be used over several user accounts on a shared winxp machine. The problem is this: When used from an administrative account, winamp functions perfectly (I have tested this over two separate admin accounts, ie, the one it was installed from and another), but invariably crashes when any kind of media file begins to play from a restricted user account.
Just to make things interesting, I tested the hypothesis by changing a user account to an adminstrative account and playing a media file. Winamp worked fine...Though not so well after reverting back to a user account. I can think of a few reasons why it might be doing this, one being that winamp doesn't share its resources across restricted access accounts...I've noticed the media library db also fails to initialize under user accounts. One thought I've had is to check the group access permissions for the dll's winamp uses (which I haven't done yet), but in case this doesn't prove fruitful, does anyone have any ideas for a work-around? Thanks! |

For future reference, they're all linked to in the Troubleshooters sticky.
I made that post so people wouldn't need to search. Always read the sticky threads at the top of the forums first, and you can't go wrong
