Wind, work, and a day without power

Damn...Those storms that came through here hit pretty damn hard on Tuesday night...Not so much the rain, but it was the wind, with gusts ranging anywhere from 40-70mph...'Twas enough to knock down trees in many parts of the area, and leave over a hundred-thousand people in the Louisville area without power...

Damn old tree in our backyard got knocked down, and I spend the whole afternoon today cutting branches down and stuff, helping my mom, aunt, and grandpa..."Working Man" by Rush was playing in my head the whole time...

Took a shower afterwards with only 2 candles in the bathroom for light...I stunk, since I didn't have the time to take a shower since Sunday night, and I sweated alot working on the tree...I couldn't see shit when I was taking a shower, though...Not in a Ray Charles sense, but more like if he could still see but had 5% transparency tinting on his shades...

I over-exhausted myself too...I couldn't stop sweating because of no air, I got a headache from the frustration, my arms and legs feel sore, and I couldn't stand up for even a minute...I guess I felt better when I got out of the house and went to Golden Corral for dinner, even though I just wanted to stay home and relax...

Power came back on in our neighborhood when we came back...Went out 8:40PM Tuesday night, came back on around 9:40PM Wednesday night...That's about 25 hours without power...

Yay...I wish I could do this more often...

Been there and done that, too. Out where I live, the power is usually pretty reliable, but it's gone out for a couple days at a time when major storms have hit (hurricanes come to mind).

My power last went out a few weeks ago when a car hit a telephone pole nearby. It happined in the middle of the night, but by the time I woke up, power was restored.

MV, I was wondering how you made out... saw it on the news. They said it was headed straight for us, but I guess it petered out before it got here. We did get enough wind though, to rip the cover off the new Comet.

Anyone who likes Rush gets an A+ in my book!

Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of tapes hurtling down the highway.

Comet!

He uses statistics like a drunk uses lamp-posts: for support, not illumination.

prp gets trees knocked down and people lose power.

meanwhile, someplace near j-town someone never lost power.

something that i heard on the radio that would be infuriating if i were affected: the power company's trucks are blocked by downed trees. yesterday (while the power was still not restored) the meter reader came by and checked this person's meter.

My dad out here in PRP watched a movie on TV with the lights on during the storm while I sat by candlelight in St. Matthews and listened to my CDs on my CD player...

Pleasure Ridge Park...It's a sub-division within the Louisville Area...
