Skiping Problem

Hey guys, sorry if this is a repeat question but...

When ever I choose a song in my media library the song will play for about 3 seconds, it then skips and plays the 3 seconda again. Then I get the "winamp has encountered a problem and needs to close" screen. It doesn't do this everytime I chose a song, but about 50% of the time. I believe this only occurs when I choose something from the media library.

I've tried reinstalling and re-entering the music into the library.

Any help you can give would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Did you install any 3rd-party plugins? (like mp3pro, mpeg123, dsp plugins, etc.)

What files are you playing?
mp3? wma?

Could you post the error details?
(In XP, the error box will say 'to view details... click here'. Please post them.)

Also, include system specs in your reply.

Maybe try the directsound output tweaks.

Did you install the update patch?

If that doesn't work, consider doing a clean install.
