(almost)no stream response
sorry for this topic again, but i've searched and searched the forums and tried the couple goofball fixes i found, but nothing worked.
this is the computer- P4 1.8Ghz WinXP Pro Fix It Utilities(Anti-Virus) Spybot S&D the problem is more than half the time I try to connect to Shoutcast I get the "error creating socket" message. sometimes it just does nothing after the hook-up try, no message, nothing in the playlist, zip. If I have an mp3 going and then try to connect, it might connect 1 out of 20 times. ANY shoutcast stream acts like this. The old winAmp didn't do this, I have also just done a fresh install and had winamp with NOTHING else except WinXP on this machine and still nothing, so I am POSITIVE its not any virus or spy hunter. Also tried the stupid ligos fix in a previous post, this is the brilliant post where the guy said "ligos is on your machine and is messing it up"...well, after a few more posts, turns out there was nothing to do with ligos on the other guys machine, so now the guy says "well now thats it-you need ligos on it, then remove it, then reinstall and configure it and re-uninstall it..." perhaps one of you has seen that helpful waste of time. the guy got it working eventually, BUT NO REAL SOLUTION WAS GIVEN, in any post for that matter. Like I said, sorry for this topic, but does someone have any idea whats up? and you know Im not the only one with this problem And this is why i posted this here: MegaRock Major Dude Registered: Jul 2003 From: ...the bottom of the bottle... You will probably get better help for this in the Winamp forums since it is not directly related to the operation of a Shoutcast stream but rather a problem with Winamp running on your machine. __________________ Rob, Program Director Now rocking the house in 64k!! This is an obscure error. I can only speculate with the following suggestions, sorry if you already tried any of them. One or more of the following
No luck? Please provide additional specs as described here. Some of them may seem irrelevant, however please answer anyways. You don't have to answer the "filetypes played" question. Are you using any type of a internet enhancer? Example: a internet accelerator Sorry for the confusion on my part, but please confirm that this error occurs when you try to listen to a stream and not broadcasting a stream. For the Hijack This log requested in the specs link... Download Hijack This from the specs link or use this direct download link. After downloading HjT it will be ready to run. Run HjT and press the 'Scan' button. After scanning the button will change to a 'Save log' button. Save the report as a text file by giving it a txt extension instead of log. Example: HijackThis.txt. Please do not use the 'fix' button. Then attach the HjT log with your next reply. With that you don't need to provide a StartUpList log. |
