3 Days of reading and trying different things

Hi there,

I have read the tech support and the READ ME Files.

They touch the issue but everything I try fails to fix what the problems are.

I am running winxp professional, The internal firewall is turned off, I have a router and 2 machines connected to it.
The router allows internet connextion with Static IP off and DHCP Client turned on.

When my systems have Net access, Shoutcast gives me the turn off conection sharing and firewall and NAT......

I went into the config file for shoutcast and chaged yport to 666 from 80. It still does not allow me on and I get the same error.

I changed my port from 8000 to 8001 and up from there consistantly in shoutcast, I am still getting the similar problem.

My questions to you is, after 3 days of reading all the feeds and tried tweaking to fix, is there a fix to this problem or am I using the wrong service to run an Internet Radio Station. Perhaps it would be easier to change win Versions? You can tell me in detail.

I am not a fly by night kid that wants to play with music. I am serious about running a net radio station.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Well, here's the test. Disconnect your router, connect directly to your modem. Work yet? Okay, then your router is not properly configured.

Shoutcast doesn't have any problems to fix, it's the user's responsibility to configure their network settings properly.

yeah, i'm back.

Thank you for some input. I have disconnected the router and after some setting changes, my cable modem kicked in and Im back online without the router. I connected to shoputcast, said listening on port 8001 and connected. My station showed up.

That is really great I know its not shoutcast when not using a router. When i use a router i can still connectto the net but not shoutcast.

I have a 2505NR Broadband Netcore Router. I will be honest, when it comes to routers, i am as dumb as a bucket of nails. I do not understand the terminology or the functions. Any way you could walk me through the setup of it? or I could give access to a shoutcast representitive for remote access

Please respond.

go into the GUI config file and look for password and change it to what you want then reload the gui.

; Password. While SHOUTcast never asks a listener for a password, a
; password is required to broadcast through the server, and to perform
; administration via the web interface to this server. This server should
; consist of only letters and numbers, and is the same server your broadcaster
; will need to enter in the SHOUTcast Source Plug-in for Winamp. THIS VALUE
; CANNOT BE BLANK.

man this thread gets more curiouser and curiouser

MyndPhunk you need put your router back in the network, log into your router and forward ports 8000 & 8001 to the LAN IP address of your PC with shoutcast.

COnsult the documentation that came with the router on how to do this. It is sometimes called Virtual Server.
