no sound

I,ve had winamp 2.6 and then tried 5.03a they worked for
great untill I got a windows update, on restart I tried to play an mp3 file and no sound the EQ shows its playing but nothing. I uninstalled the update. I'm runing XPpro. I,ve checked to see if anything was muted it was not. I also uninstalled and reinstalled the different versions.

No Luck
any help appreciated

Please upgrade to Winamp 5.04.
If that doesn't work, try the DirectSound output tweaks:

Great help!!

But why is it in versions 5.0 and up does the sound card change, previous versions that I installed there was no problems? I've used several version. Now using 5.04.
