ASF files

I'm having problems with ASF streams. They load up, but do not play. Here is an example of the last one I attempted to play:

<asx version = "3.0">

Music One Broadband

<MoreInfo href = "http://www.m1live.com" />

<ref href = "http://64.236.34.97:80/stream/1011/"/>
<ref href = "http://64.236.34.196:80/stream/1011/"/>
<ref href = "http://64.236.34.4:80/stream/1011"/>
<ref href = "http://62.25.99.84:8050/"/>
<ref href = "http://205.188.234.3:8022/"/>
<ref href = "http://129.241.179.15:8080/"/>

Music One Broadband

</asx>

I'm running WinXP Pro with Winamp 5.04, and I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to streaming. Should Winamp be able to handle this ASF file?

I tried to run it on Windows Media file also and I get:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The
file is either corrupt or the Player does not
support the format you are trying to play.

Are trying to get a file that will play in Windows Media Player? Most around the forums would suggest an ASX.

********

For the .asx (WMP).. put the following in a notepad document and then save it as <whatever>.asx

code:
<asx version="3.0">

TITLE

TITLE

<ref href="http://yourIP:yourPORT/"/>

</asx>

Of course, change things to fit your needs.
Note: This only works in WMP 7.1 and up
Note the trialing slash after "yourPORT"

I'm still confused....

This is the website I started with:

http://www.m1live.com/music.php

From here I selected LISTEN / Broadband. (top left of page)

It then prompts me for File Download... I select Open.

WinAmp opens, and in the title box shows me:
-00:00 BROADBAND[1].ASF

At this point, Winamp goes NO FURTHER. Winamp will not stream this link, and gives no error messages.

Using "View file info.." I find the file in the temp internet folder and pull it up in text as:
<asx version = "3.0">

Music One Broadband

<MoreInfo href = "http://www.m1live.com" />

<ref href = "http://64.236.34.67:80/stream/1011/"/>
<ref href = "http://64.236.34.97:80/stream/1011/"/>
<ref href = "http://64.236.34.196:80/stream/1011/"/>
<ref href = "http://64.236.34.4:80/stream/1011"/>
<ref href = "http://62.25.99.84:8050/"/>
<ref href = "http://205.188.234.3:8022/"/>
<ref href = "http://129.241.179.15:8080/"/>

Music One Broadband

</asx>

..................

Checking my pref's on Winamp, ASF files are selected, that's why Winamp is attempting to deal with this file.

So... what is wrong here? Should Winamp NOT have the ASF file in it's extension list? Is the file on "Music One" improperly formated?

I tried to access the "BROADBAND[1].ASF" file from Windows Media Player also, just to see if it could handle it where Winamp could NOT. But it didn't work there either.

The station your trying to listen to has a problem with their setup. You will have to contact them for help with it. Their connection (broadband.asx) file is not setup right. I've got it now and was just looking at. But, they will have to fix it for you or anybody to use windows media player to listen to their station.
