Why do i need a sound card?

ok, so i built a little machine, for streaming purposes only, it has no onboard sound, and there is no room for a sound card. what is one to do? i dont need to listen to anything on the machine, its just a server, but winamp cant open a stream without a soundcard installed....what the hell? is there any way around this...
