Here's what I did. Downloaded Kill_CIH.exe from
www.symantec.com/avcenter/kill_cih.html (read there what the file does) and restarted my PC.Ran Kill_CIH(Before any other file)and then went online, downloaded winamp2.7,ran it and it worked fine.I also tried updating a few things I couldn't before and that worked as well.I know it won't work for everyone but if it does, post it here 'cause I'm interested in knowing if I just got lucky.Good Luck.If the link above doesn't work just take out everything past html.See my previous post to know why I say this. |

Hey,... Thanks for the help,.. IT WORKED!!!
i had a look at the link you gave, read about the file and what it does. The file you suggested only removed it from memory, so if the virus is in your exe files, it stays there. So i downloaded the scanner to repair all my files. It found 304 infected exe files, which are virtually all of my exe files. It also infected my bvro's computer, cause were link via a network... Anyway it worked,.. thanks alot for the help |

Another CIH-cleaning program is available here:
http://www.pspl.com/download/cleancih.htm The CRC contained in the Winamp program alerts users to the fact that they may have a pre-existing virus (such as CIH) on their system. |
