My winamp, v. 2.70, cuts off songs about 5 to 10 seconds too early. Can someone please tell me how to fix this?

I'm not using windows 2000, and it doesn't do this in other players.

Whoever ripped the song had the settings set so that the first and last data packets get cut.
So when you play it you cannot hear the parts that got cut.

Try to lessen your buffer lenght in Options/preferences/Output/Waveout.
