Best "Rapper"
While the room filtered all the smoke out of the windows, somehow the ever-popular topic of music came up.
And then a friend of mine said that Eminem sucked as a rapper. All of a sudden, everybody had an opinion, even me, and I was having trouble sitting still without the need to just lay down and hope I didn't drown in my own vomit. The question was, if Eminem sucked, who was good? Nas, Jay-Z, etc etc. Wait woa. As far as Jay-Z is concerned, the motherfucker came out to a press conference and said he just makes music to sell records and make money. Jay-Z is selling out. And they call him the greatest rapper. Fucking twat. The only thing he ever did well was to make the black album so DJ Mighty Mouse could remix it into the Grey Album, a phenomenon of good shit. And anyone who bucks that statement hasn't heard it and actually listened, or are just talking out of thier ass like I am right....now. Nas I can dig, and even he has a problem with Jay-Z selling out, most evident in Ether a scathing attack on Jay-Z and his "dick suckin' lips". And since he started it, lets bring Eminem on the table. I'll be the first to admit that I don' know rap and modern music nearly as well as I should, but I like Eminem. I think his beats are less innovative than say, Nas, and definately not as hard and mean as M.O.P., but he's funny, which is a definate plus. Plus, from what I understand, he's good, but not on his albums. You "have to get the underground shit, that's where it's just (kisses fingers) mmwa!" There is really no reason to bring up that he's white, but since it will be brought up eventually, let's just bring it up now. Yeah, so he's white, dresses like a black dude and wears do-rags which were originally to cool the heads of cornrow-wearing slaves, definately not modern day whitebreads with bleached blond hair and bags under their eyes. But we won't go there, because we all know deep down in our hearts that race shouldn't matter to anybody, it definately does matter to a lot of people. So tell me, who's the best rapper? Let me know because now I'm confused. really, really confused. Like a child lost in the woods. |

Indeed. Like, Bjork, Tool, Tori Amos, Pink Floyd, Silverchair, Rob Zombie, U2, Radiohead, A Perfect Circle, Rush, PJ Harvey, Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Enya, The Cranberries, Nick Cave, Jethrotull, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Johnny Winter, Phil Collins..........etc. I listen to them all on a regular basis, and many more. I don't just like SlipKnoT, as many of you think. Don't be too hasty to make unaware judgements.
I don't own any rap at all, and I like it that way. DeviantART|¤¤|DS-Lair|¤¤|Dissectional|¤¤|Pearl Drums|¤¤|Viralsound|¤¤|PabUK Hey you! Don't tell me there's no hope at all. Together we stand, divided we fall.My PLAYLIST MSN: taylor.jake@hotmail.com |

You've come a long way taylor
![]() I like Busta Ryhmes, he's just very different in his style. But, I really couldn't say who's best as I've been out of the current rap loop for awhile now. From past articles, I've learned that Tupac was very lyrical, his writings very poetic, and while Eminem has his leagues of detractors, some of them will even say that his writings are very good. |

I used to like Busta Rhymes...
And you have to give it to Eminem, being a very good white rapper in something that primarily dominated by black people... Beastie Boys: About the only rap I can really tolerate...

This listed consists of lyrical skills (informational, inspirational, innovative, rebelic, and or funny in ALL its categories), as well as production skills:
First and foremost, the best in the game: Gang Starr Freddie Foxxx (old school) Redman The Pharcyde MURS Aesop Rock Paul Yamz Del The Funky Homosapien Alchemist Gangstarr Bahamadia Roots Manuva El-P and all of Company Flow Mos Def Pharohe Monch Shabaam Sahdeeq (old school) Busta Rhymes Grand Puba Sadat X Common Planet Asia Insane Clown Posse DJ Jazzy Jeff Dr. Dre (old school production) Prince Paul Dan The Automator Handsome Boy Modeling School (the collaboration of Paul and Automator) Pete Rock & CL Smooth The Roots X-Ecutioners Digital Underground BOSS THE MC (a rapper of Japan) Doug E. Fresh Kool Keith DJ Krush Ludacris Pep Love The Grouch Zion-I If I missed anyone else, it's probably because they suck. This list isn't about sucking up to the pioneers, although rap music has been around predated for hundreds of years. It's about who's keeping it alive now. That's my list. Accept it, respect it, or reject it. taylormemer, the same can be said with your choice of music, as well with other styles. All I can suggest to you is open up your mind to find & filter the phat from the wack. Just a suggestion. |

Johnny's in the basement Mixing up the medicine I'm on the pavement Thinking about the government The man in the trench coat Badge out, laid off Says he's got a bad cough Wants to get it paid off Look out kid It's somethin' you did God knows when But you're doin' it again You better duck down the alley way Lookin' for a new friend The man in the coon-skin cap In the big pen Wants eleven dollar bills You only got ten Maggie comes fleet foot Face full of black soot Talkin' that the heat put Plants in the bed but The phone's tapped anyway Maggie says that many say They must bust in early May Orders from the D. A. Look out kid Don't matter what you did Walk on your tip toes Don't try "No Doz" Better stay away from those That carry around a fire hose Keep a clean nose Watch the plain clothes You don't need a weather man To know which way the wind blows Get sick, get well Hang around a ink well Ring bell, hard to tell If anything is goin' to sell Try hard, get barred Get back, write braille Get jailed, jump bail Join the army, if you fail Look out kid You're gonna get hit But users, cheaters Six-time losers Hang around the theaters Girl by the whirlpool Lookin' for a new fool Don't follow leaders Watch the parkin' meters Ah get born, keep warm Short pants, romance, learn to dance Get dressed, get blessed Try to be a success Please her, please him, buy gifts Don't steal, don't lift Twenty years of schoolin' And they put you on the day shift Look out kid They keep it all hid Better jump down a manhole Light yourself a candle Don't wear sandals Try to avoid the scandals Don't wanna be a bum You better chew gum The pump don't work 'Cause the vandals took the handles

wtf?! how can you have a best rapper thread and not have tupac anywhere?
he is a true rapper. He would destroy eminem with his pinky. Tell eminem to die and make 11 albums. notorious was also amazing. No 300lb man with a lazy eye could get so many chicks. that speaks volumes for his ability to rhyme. if you want to start naming "pop" rap artists... than jay-z is amazing. his first album was recorded in half an hour. he just sat down and started rapping to the beats they played him. that's skill. want funny? ludacris. snoop dogg. right now i'm listening to kanye wests' never let me down. check it out. it's good. No sig here folks. |

i cant believe only one person said kanye west so far.
kanye west twista outkast doesnt jay-z have songs written for him and doesnt write his own raps? "Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?" |

no. he writes his own stuff. but that thing on selling records is true. so he didn't go back to revise his raps... uhh... rap is not founded on those who can sit down and write a rap, those who pop rhymes off the top of their head are the ones that are good. and he's good.
No sig here folks. |
