Minus one

Hello,

Does anybody know how to create a minus one song by using an audio cd or mp3/wma?

are you trying to make it so that there is no break inbetween songs that run together? There should be an option on your burner to remove silence in between the tracks

I think he means the technique of creating a hidden track by putting it before the first track. You can rewind to before the 0 mark and have another track there.

There is no clear cut way. You could use an audio editor (Like goldwave, or sound forge) to play aorund it.

ScorLibran should be around with a lecture soon enough

There's a a few bit's of 'shite' software around that purports to do what you want.
If you want to do it properly however you'll have to use some thing like Nuendo or Wavelab/Cu-Base and then learn how to anylise the different frequencies - remove the one's that correspond to the vocals.
Only way I know how to do it and maintain audio quality.
I have heard of a plug-in for Wavelab that is supposed to do it for you but I'd be dubious myself about that.

Only way I know of anyway..

Use a cuesheet and a burning software that understands them

Doesn't work.

If you want a free audio editor try Audacity, but it won't help you much.

I download It and Install It and I followed these Instruction:-

2. Can I remove the vocals from a recording?

With some stereo recordings, it is possible to remove the
vocals because of the way in which the recording was mixed
at the studio. Often, the vocals are placed in the exact
center of the recording, while all other instruments are
slightly off-center. If you subtract the right channel from
the left channel, the vocals get completely canceled out,
leaving only the other instruments.

This only works on some recordings!

To attempt this in Audacity, import a stereo recording,
then click on the track pop-up menu (the little down-arrow
next to the name of the track) and select "Split Stereo Track".
Now select the lower track (the right channel) and
use the "Invert" effect (from the Effect menu). Finally, use
the track pop-up menus to make both channels Mono channels,
and then mix them together using Quick Mix. If you're lucky,
the vocals will be gone.
But you're right, It didn't help much because the vocals in all the tracks I used didn't gone.

Just wondering, is there a way of doing this? I have never heard of it, and it sounds interesting.

A blind listening test of the most common compressed formats (using ABC-HR) at settings that produce an average of 128kbps over a large selection of music.

Using a cuesheet like this (if the other tracks have the gaps appended at the end):
code:
FILE "D\Music\Hidden Track.wav" WAVE
TRACK 01 AUDIO
INDEX 00 00:00:00
FILE "D:\Music\Track 1.wav" WAVE
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 AUDIO
INDEX 00 05:33:45
FILE "D:\Music\Track2.wav" WAVE
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 03 AUDIO
INDEX 00 04:47:32
...

Prefs(Ctrl+P) > Plugins DSP/Effects > Nullsoft Signal Processing Studio > Load 'Justin - stupid stereo voice removal.sps'

This is based on the principle that vocals are often recorded 'dead centre'. By removing elements of the left channel that are exactly the same as the right channel the vocals will disappear.

If this works then you probably won't find anything better without going into the sort of heavy weight filtering that Smeggle talked about .
If there are multiple voices spread over the whole sound stage then even something like WaveLab will struggle.

Chances are you are not going to get it perfect. With the way music is recorded, it is removing SOME of the vocals, but I don't think it will get them all.

yeah, i'm back.

Because any stereo reverb will remain so you might still hear the vocals a bit, and you'll also lose any instruments that were in the centre, and part of any instruments that were partly in the centre.
