why does winamp skip songs ???

when i try to play songs it skips some and plays some. whats wrong?

Could be for various reasons. But you should provide some more info that that...

Winamp version?
File type? Mp3? Wma? Other?
Any differences between skipped and played songs?
Right-click a skipped song in the playlist > View file info... and tell us what you see.
The same for a played song.
Most likely the skipped songs have been (re)moved from the original locations. Try adding them to your playlist again.

System specs?
3rd-party plugins?

[edit --> filtered out a bit of harshness]

turn off shuffle. on the main window click shuffle off...(or select mainwindow and type "s")

[edit]woops didnt read all of siebes post[/edit] yeah it could be bad paths...have you moved/renamed some of your music recently?
