Internet reading CD's

Something odd happened and I was hoping someone could explain it to me.

When you ask the internet to read your CD contents (like in Adaptec Easy CD creaator), how does it do it? It only works some of the time anyway, but still I'm curious because of what just happened to me.

I burned two LP's (two CCR records from the 60's) onto a CD using an external CDR. Then I put the newly burned CD into my computer to create a jewel case. To my amazement, the two titles of the albums were listed (Willy and the Poorboys/Cosmo's Factory) under the group name, with all 21 titles filled in.

Should I be amazed or is this perfectly normal?
