starting

Where is the main.bmp to get started skinning? I am using PSP. How do I get started? Do I start in PSP? Please help. I know these are basic questions but I'm not sure how to get the main.bmp open to edit it.

What he said.

And make sure you try out the atlas! It is a must!

P.S. - I hear that Mr Jones ended up doing most of the work on the atlas. Good job!

No, I did a little bit of work on the gen/gen_ex/video sections of skinners atlas, and provided Jelby with some inside info about upcoming changes in the skin engine.

Oh, and I did the winamp.com thread in the skinning t&t forums, but that was just a html version of the official read me.

I had a similar question... after looking through those links, I'm sure I can get the ball rolling, but I think it strange that I can't find any main.bmp on my computer. In other skinable programs, like some games, I'm used to being able to make copies of the original files from the program directory. There seems to be no such files in this case, leaving me to wonder where exactly winamp is getting the classic skin images.

*ponders* just seems weird, is all....

The image files are hard coded into the main winamp program executable file, you can extract them with something like a resource hacker , or as most people prefer use one of the many template skins out there which are usually better designed than the default images.

However if you really want the default images, you can download an offline copy here...
