OGM still not playing on 5.07

Hi,

I've Winamp 5.07 and I've searched the forum already. I installed the OggDS, the newest ffdshow and another pack (MKV or so), which was also recommended in a thread I found. I also added the OGM extension in the DirectShow Decoder, also no effect. Winamp just opens the file, but stops at 00:00, and doesn't even open the video windows or gives an error message. In other words, nothing's happening.
Also WMP 10, PowerDVD 6 or Quicktime won't play ogm files, I don't know what I did wrong. Please help me, I'm running out of ideas.

In case it's important: I'm running WinXP Pro SP2.

Use GSpot to find out if you need another codec or see if you can enable it in ffdshow's configuration.

See here if you don't know how to use GSpot.

Thanks, I tried the programm, when I select the file it says n.a. in every field?
I tried to activate it in ffdshow, but I can't find it there. Do I have to look for OGM or is it called different there?

Or maybe the file I'm trying to open is corrupt. Is there maybe a small OGM testfile I can quickly download somewhere?

Try this one.

It's a 3 second clip in XviD video and Vorbis audio.

With this file Winamp crashes with a memory error. Really weird. Now I'm totally confused.

Ok, forgot to test this: GSpot says I don't have the audio codec installed. What? I thought Winamp has native ogg support and with this OggDS came also an ogg codec?
WMP 10 plays the file without problems, also with sound. But I DON't want to use WMP, I want my Winamp to show me the OGM files.

It says the same for me (and I have 2 Vorbis codecs installed, GSpot isn't perfect either).
If it renders (or plays in WMP as in your case) you definitely have the necessary codecs.

Does Winamp play video for you at all?

If not try disabling Allow hardware overlay under Preferences > Video.

You could also post a HijackThis log to see if some malware is messing with Winamp.

Have you installed another input plug-in like PowerPlayerII?
I have had same problem when I installed PPII.
If you have installed PPII, try to delete file extension from configuration menu of PPII.

Removing the hardware overlay has no effect. Winamp still crashes.

I'm very sure that I have no malware on my computer. And I have no other plugins installed for Winamp.

I see no reason for this behavior of Winamp.

Try this...

Start > programs > ffdshow > audio filter configuration

Scroll down to "Vorbis" (right pane)
Click on "disabled" and change it to "tremor" (c/o drop-down menu).

When I do this, Winamp shows the video, but the sound is just a very high noise. But the problem seems to be ffdshow (or is it Ogg Vorbis?).

What sound do you get in WMP when you enable Tremor?

When you disable it, what does GSpot report in the DirectShow render section?

Also try the DirectSound output tweaks or try switching to WaveOut (in Winamp).

Well, here we go:

WMP plays it with Vorbis disabled or with tremor, no difference here.

DirectSound output tweaks or Waveout have no effect.
But since today there's no more high noise, but just no sound. So nothing's coming out any more, only sometimes a little crackle.
And is it normal that Winamp stops playing an OGM video file, when I want to jump forward in the video?

GSpot returns in both cases (disabled or tremor) the same values in the Render section:

Video Src Type: 4cc: XVID
Audio Src: Vorbis
Video Path: (S) --> Ogg Splitter --> ffdshow MPEG-4 Video Decoder --> (R)
Audio Path: (S) --> Ogg Splitter --> ffdshow Audio Decoder --> (R)

I don't think that my souncard is the problem, because it's an Audigy 2 and not that old.

It displays ffdshow even when Vorbis is disabled in ffdshow?

Try reinstalling OggDS or installing another Vorbis DirectShow filter: CoreVorbis.

Doesn't have any effect.

I don't know why this is so fucked up, I never had such problems with any kind of codec before.
