saving to wsz problems!

I am brand new to skinning and have read that wsz files are renamed compressed files... to check first I renamed one to .rar, extracted the files then repacked them to .rar and renamed .rar to .wsz, the problem is that I use winamp 5.08 and when I set this .wsz as the skin it says "no info found" and winamp uses the default classic skin??? whats the problem here as to learn I was going to alter the classic skin .bmp's in photoshop as I'm sure most newbie's do, any help would be appreciated.

Don't make them .rar, try .zip instead.

How to create .wsz/.wal from .zip files.
