question

i don't know if this has been asked befor or how dumb it might be but w/e.
I was wondering if you have to buy a server in order to broadcast or is there a way to do it with out buying a server.. and if htere is a way could u plz let me know

lol ok im assuming you read that little lot

the long and the short of it is

yes u can run a server with winamp/dsp/dnas
there can be a bit of a configuration involved
it depends on what connection you have as to how good the quality and amount of listners you have
if u need suport u can come here and ask how to and all these lovely people could provide the relevent info if your lucky or a good verbal beating!!

or

using a host
u only need to winamp and the dsp
not the dnas which most people fall down with using
you only need to push the feed for 1 listener to the host
so instead of splitting say your 128k between all your listeners ..... you can send them all your 128k feed and they will all get the 128k fed as the host manages the bandwith for you
support is at hand from the streamhost and any issues will be sorted pretty rapid as they wanna keep your custom

ok i got it all set up now but when i give my friends the link http://myip:8000 they get a page saying the information can not be diplayed any ideas y?

well click on that and send the people that file...well thats what i think you do (people can't connect to my site)

th3e only way that i know of right now is http://myip:8000/listen.pls.... but i don't want to go a send my ip to some ppl is there any way to make it like httP://myradio:8000/listen.pls

no you need to save that file to you HDD then send the actual file not a link (host it on some webspace if ya want) to the person you want to link.
