ActiveX
i have a question... what do you have to do if a popup comes up and says, "your current security settings prohibit ActiveX to run" or something like that?

Install the Firefox browser - www.mozilla.org
ActiveX is a neat little MS piece of software widely used by advertisers to install spyware, adware or just generally annoying stuff. It is in no other internet browser but IE so if you use IE get used to seeing it. Alot. Or, use a better browser (like the above noted) which like most smart companies didn't include ActiveX crap in their software

Adjust your ie security settings to either
1) ignore active x, or 2), to variously accept (some) active x. If you do not know you need it, set it to ignore. You do not need to install a new browser, as these advanced features are configurable. As MegaRock indicated, activex is generally not needed, and is often abused by some coders, and so shutting it off is likely your best option. |
