Can't open preferences.

Hey,

Winamp has always worked well for me, but lately its being a pain. I don't remember making any changes to my computer, it just started being funny all of a sudden.

I cannot actually open the preferences, with the menu or with CTRL+P. I click or type and nothing happens. The only way I have managed to change the preferences is by editing the winamp.ini file.

How can I get the dialog boxes to come up again?

I also cannot get the "open URL" or "about Winamp" bits to open either, no boxes come up at all. I have tried v 5.08 and 5.08c as well as other previous versions. I have tried clean installations and updates, none of which have made a difference.

Using WinXP Pro SP2.

Thanks.

Odd... Try a clean install.

If the problem persists...
Are you having problems in other programs as well?
Please provide full system specs. Also include a HijackThis log.

If you're bored go here or, if the boredom is more serious, here.

well, not sure what happened, but I can now open the preferences. I was mucking around with the winamp.ini file and set the prefs to 1, then the last prefs to 1 also. It might have sorted itself out.

(and I had already tried a clean install, but thanks)

for your info,
P4-M 2.0GHz, WinXP Pro, 512MB RAM
