winamp skipping! HELP!

I have Winamp 5.02, and I transferred it from my old comp (running on windows 98) to my newer computer (running on windows me) and the music skips when I open a new window or change songs... the only way the song doesn't skip is if I remain inactive and just listen, which kinda sucks... I had this problem awhile ago and I had to solve it by downloading Winamp 2 cuz Winamp 3 didn't seem to work for me...

...anyone have a solution???

Thanks!

what are your system specs?

Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of tapes hurtling down the highway.

First, upgrade to Winamp 5.08c

Then read this (from the Troubleshooters FAQ sticky):

No sound, skippy/choppy/crackly playback, high VM usage, etc.
