Ipod Photo

first of all - will, dude - you're awesome, great f***in plugin

so i just got an ipod photo, here's my question - how hard would it be to add the album art/photo capability to mlPod? i'm trying to go completely itunes-free, and as far as i know, that's the only way to get photos/album art onto the ipod photo.

whadya think man?

p.s. if it's the kinda deal where people would need to kick up the donations a bit to get you an ipod photo for development, i'd be willing to throw down a couple more bucks towards the cause - anyone else?

I registered just to say that I would love this too! I just got a Photo yesterday, and I've been going crazy looking for iTunes alternatives for photo support. Will, you are our only hope.

I too registered just for this topic. I have also just got an iPod Photo. I don't want to use iTunes. I would donate to get album art/photo support added, and it takes something good for me to say that.

I'm in for this as well. Will, I love this plugin, best one for WinAmp so far.

But guys (speaking to everyone else in this post), we can't BS Will on this. If he does it we have to ALL pull through with a few bucks for his effort. We can't tell ourselves "the other guys will chip in", it has to be all of us.

i threw down 20$ when i was downloading the plugin, and would be more than happy to throw down another 20$, so we get 20 peoples (or less) to throw down at least 20 bills, and will's got him a brand spankin new ipod photo, how hard is that???

The main problem here is that winamp doesn't really do album art the same way itunes does. The winamp "Show info" thing gets the art off AOLs servers.

I'll get in contact with the people in charge of this to see if I can get access to their content.

i dont understand why u need show info, which hardly works,

album art is stored in tag just like other info, and it needs to be retrieved off the tag only, the toaster plugin displays album art in the classic skin of winamp 5

Yeah, it's in tags or in folder.jpg. Toaster finds both of those, and also the now playing plugin displays folder.jpg.

Not going to be done by me in the near to medium term, sorry.

If you want to implement it yourself and have skills in C++ and win32 then contact me and I'll add you to the sourceforge project.

I'd like to try to make this change, but when I tried to get the source from sourceforge's CVS, a lot of files was missing. Could you put all the files in the CVS or send me then bay email?

To compile ml_ipod, get the Winamp SDK, checkout ml_ipod to <sdk>\gen_ml\ml_ipod, extract jnetlib to <sdk>\gen_ml\ml_ipod\jnetlib and open <sdk>\gen_ml\ml_ipod\ml_ipod.dsw.
