I still have just this very same problem, with Winamp 5.08e.
I'm much of an uptime-whore, so I'm currently using Foobar2k as my mediaplayer of choice. The point is, that I prefer Winamp, but this crashing is really really frightening me. Updated bug report: OS: Windows XP SP2 Pro with all patches. CPU: Intel Pentium III, 667MHz with 133MHz FSB RAM: 567 (256*2+64) MB RAM, running at 133MHz Whenever I open the Winamp Media Library, and look at Internet Radio and/or Internet TV, after which I either add an item to my Playlist or Right-Click on an item, the result is that my system completely LOCKS DOWN. The exact symptoms of a "complete system lockdown" that I am describing here, are as follows: - Screen freezes in the position it was at the exact time of crash. Mouse wont move, no refreshing on screen - I can leave the PC for eight hours without the screen image changing even a tiny pixel. - Sound skips in a 500 milisecond loop. That means that I am being played a 500 milisecond endless loop of the very same and exact sound. Since I last bumped this topic, I have done a complete format C:, and nothing was left on my drives besides video, image and audio data. I reinstalled my system completely from scratch, and re-installed a completely new and fresh copy of Winamp. Please hear my desperate cries of help. PLEASE! My thoughts on this is that the archiving-system (Some kind of database?) that the Windows Media Library is powered by, is faulty and needs a recode/bugfixing/optimization/whatever. Only this is certain: It is the ML that causes my crashes. It might be true that the ML only crashes on my particular hardware setup, but it does crash. Thank you. |
