I am trying to edit a skin but windows paint won't let me use some colors, they just turn out gray. What is the deal? Also when pasting pics I lose some of the colors.

It sounds as if you are using .gif images. gif compression works by checking the colours that are used in an image, and removing all those that are not. So when you go to edit that picture again, you can only use the colours that are already in the image, all other colours are greyed out, as you said. Try saving the files as bitmaps, or as the default extension of your paint program, e.g. Paint Shop Pro files are saved as .psp. Maybe this will work

if you are using paint shop pro you can go to the colours menu and click on increase/decrease colour depth, from 2 colours to 16 million colours
hope thats some help

I'm not trying to be mean here but...

MSPaint is not designed for in depth graphics work, it's designed for ... well god knows what MS made it for.

If you want to make skins I recommend either jasc Software's Paint Shop Pro (http://www.jasc.com) or Adobe Photoshop (http://www.adobe.com)

I personally do not like version 7 of PSP and I use 6 but if ur new I'd try 7 as its easier to learn than to adjust to when u do stuff automatically

Thanks

Bruce

Well it sounds to me that the immage has a locked pallette. Use PSP or Photoshop. They usually unlock it for you - if not change the palette to RGB.
